SUV Rolls Over on Northbound 73 On-ramp

The northbound on-ramp for the 73 Freeway at MacArthur Boulevard was closed for about an hour Sunday afternoon after a vehicle rolled over, according to the Newport Beach Fire Department.

The driver, who was the only person in the SUV, received bumps and bruises in the single-vehicle accident that happened about 2:30 p.m., Battalion Chief Todd Knipp said. The driver declined treatment and was picked up by a family member, he said.

Fire personnel stabilized the SUV, which was resting "precariously" on its side, until a tow truck arrived and removed it, Knipp said.
