Good Thursday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report. Well it looks like there could be a fun window at some point during the day. Overall we're looking at plenty of playful size waves out there.
Those conditions are nice and clean from the start, with a combination of fading south-southwest swell and some new westerly energy starting to show which seems to be helping the shape out there.
That recipe is making for some crumbly sectiony lines, with a few fast shoulders to snag. Once again things are going to be pretty slow due to the mid-morning high tide, but as that tide drops it'll get steeper and racier.

Most Newport Beach spots are seeing knee- to stomach-high waves, with the top combo breaks pulling chest high waves, with a few larger sets.
At 8:10 this morning the tide climbs up to a 5.3 high which will have many spots pretty full or even kind of shut off throughout the morning. The tide then drains out to a negative 0.3 low at 2:42 p.m.

If you're planning on paddling, throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit or the 4/3 and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees. See ya in the water!
