Thursday Surf Report

Conditions aren't looking so good.

Good Thursday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report.  Well, the surf has backed off a little, however there are still some playful size waves to be found out there.  The only bummer...those conditions aren't starting off so good!

We're seeing some texture or even light bump on it early on thanks to the variable wind.  Taking a look at the waves...we're seeing a continued combination of mainly decreasing northwest energy and some smaller south-southwest swell in the water.

That recipe is offering this stretch of sand with some crumbly and textured sectiony lines, with a few fun ones.  Most Newport Beach spots are running about knee- to stomach-high, with the top combo breaks pulling some chest high sets.

Taking a look at the tides: At 5:51 this morning the tide climbed up to a 3.3 high and then drops to a 1.3 low at 11:38 later this morning and then pushes up once again to a 4.7 high at 6:23 this evening.

If you're planning on paddling, then you'll need no more than a 3/2 fullsuit with the water temperature averaging between a comfortable 61 and 63 degrees.  Good luck out there!
