Toddler Drowns In Garden Grove Backyard Pool

GARDEN GROVE, CA — A toddler was discovered drowning in a backyard swimming pool in Garden Grove, Wednesday, authorities reported.

The 2-year-old boy was in grave condition, according to Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney.

Officers were called just before 9 a.m. to the 13000 block of Simmons Avenue.

The boy exited his home, and wandered through an open pool gate, according to Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney. At some point, he ended up "tumbling into the pool."

When the child's father and a neighbor went looking for the toddler, they found him in the pool unconscious, Whitney said.

The child was rushed to an area hospital, where he was in the intensive care unit on life support, but it appears he has little to no brain activity, Whitney said.

Neither the child, nor his family's name was released.
