Truck Slams Power Pole And Triggers Outages, Driver Arrested For DUI In Costa Mesa: Police

The 40-year-old Ontario man was arrested for DUI on the night of the crash, police said.

COSTA MESA, CA — A 40-year-old Ontario man was arrested in Orange County this past weekend after his truck crashed into a power pole and triggered outages in Costa Mesa, police said.

The crash happened at about 10:10 p.m. Friday night in the area of Newport Boulevard and Wilson Street.

"The impact caused power lines to fall onto the city traffic signal police that controls traffic on [the intersection]," police said in a statement.

The driver, 40-year-old Agustin Esquivel Garcia of Ontario, was arrested for DUI, police said. The area was closed to traffic for several hours as a result of the crash.

No further information was immediately available.
