Good Tuesday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report. Well, it's looking like a good day to go grab a surf session. Yep, we're seeing a pretty good dose of swell and those conditions have come together!
It's starting off nice and clean, with a combination of energy. There's some slowly fading west-northwest swell, some remnant southerly windswell and small south-southwest energy in the water.
That recipe is providing some fast sectiony lines, with plenty of rippable shoulders, with a few good barrels to be had. Most Newport Beach spots are running about waist- to chest-high, with the focal points pulling shoulder-high plus sets.

At 6:00 this morning the tide drained out to a negative 0.7 low which is going to have many spots really lacking water early on. The tide then pushes back up to a 4.1 high at 12:11 this afternoon. Your best bet is probably sometime mid-morning!
If you're planning on paddling, break out at least a 3/2 fullsuit or better yet a 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature hanging between 56 and 57 degrees. See ya in the water!

FYI: Don't forget the County Health Department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to urban runoff, especially near storm drains, river mouths and harbor entrances.
