Two Elderly Women Killed In Box Truck Crash, 1 Injured
A collision between an SUV & a delivery truck killed two aged women, police said, Thursday. A 3rd woman was transported to an area hospital.

IRVINE, CA — Two senior women were killed in a crash between a car and box truck Thursday morning in Irvine, and a third senior woman suffered unknown injuries in the crash, Orange County Fire Authority reported. Both OCFA and Irvine police were on the scene at Oak Canyon, which was reported closed between Sand Canyon and Post until further notice.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
The collision, which occurred for unknown reasons, took place just before 10:15 a.m. at Valley Oak Drive and Oak Canyon, according to OCFA Battalion Chief Mike Morganstern. The victims were inside a large SUV vehicle, which collided with the box truck. The driver of the truck was not injured, however all three women inside the SUV required extrication from their vehicle, Morganstern told us.

Two women described as "elderly" were pronounced dead at the scene. A third woman, of similar age, was taken to a hospital in "moderate condition." Morganstern said. Her condition is not currently known.
The identities of the women who were killed have also not yet been released. No one was cited or arrested, and there was no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved as of this report.

The Irvine Police Department is currently investigating a fatal traffic collision in the area of Oak Canyon and Valley Oak. Oak Canyon is closed between Sand Canyon and Post until further notice. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
