Victim ID'd In Fatal Costa Mesa Crash: Police

The crash was reported shortly before 10:15 p.m. Tuesday when police were called to the area of Newport and Harbor boulevards in Costa Mesa.

COSTA MESA, CA — A man was killed Monday night after he was hit by a car while walking in Costa Mesa, the Costa Mesa Police Department reported.

The incident was reported shortly before 10:15 p.m. Monday in the area Newport and Harbor boulevards. Upon arriving, authorities found both the victim and the driver still at the scenen.

The pedestrian was identified by coroner's officials Wednesday as 55-year-old Jose Rosario Rojas Moreno, of Costa Mesa. He was moved to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries early Tuesday morning.
