Victim ID'd In Newport Beach Slaying; Suspect Charged With Murder
An Inland Empire man was charged Wednesday with killing a man in his Newport Beach home.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — An Inland Empire man was charged Wednesday with killing a man in Newport Beach.
Brandon Christian Chanman, of Chino Hills, was charged with murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon.
Chanman is accused of killing 48-year-old Reginald Hidalgo of Newport Beach.

Police were sent at 6:38 p.m. Friday to the 1200 block of Park Newport for a welfare check on the victim, according to a previous report.
When officers arrived to the scene they found the victim's body with signs of trauma, police said.

Chanman, who was arrested Monday, was acquainted with the victim — but the nature of their relationship was not immediately known, police said.
