Water Main Bursts In Newport Beach Wednesday, Closing Roadway

Motorists were urged to avoid the area until repairs were made, according to an email issued by the Irvine Water District.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A recycled water main burst Wednesday morning along a major roadway in Newport Coast, and authorities were urging motorists to avoid the area until repairs were made.

The Irvine Ranch Water District sent out an email alert just after 6:45 a.m. about the water-main break.

The break was reported near Newport Coast Drive and San Joaquin Hills Road.

Southbound lanes of Newport Coast Drive and westbound lanes of San Joaquin Hills Road were closed, authorities said.
