Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Corona del Mar Patch surf report. Well, it's fading away, but there's still some fun size surf out there. The only bummer the conditions are starting off in the wrong direction.
There's a light south wind early on which is putting some texture or bump on it at several spots. We've got a mix of mainly dropping west northwest swell and some new small south southwesterly energy starting to show.
That recipe is providing some fast crumbly lines, with plenty of workable shoulders. Most spots in Newport Beach are pulling waist-to chest-high waves, with the top breaks seeing a few larger sets.

At 8:49 a.m the tide pushes up to a 5.8 high which is going to have many spots pretty full and inconsistent throughout the morning. The tide then drains out to a negative 0.7 low at 3:11 p.m.
If you're planning on paddling, you'll want to wear at least the 3/2 fullsuit and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 58 degrees. See ya in the water!!
