Wave Check: Friday

The coast is still cranking!

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Corona del Mar Patch surf report.  Well, this is by the far the biggest surf we've seen in quite a while.  So, this is definitley a good day for the experienced only!!

The conditions are looking pretty clean from the start, with some spots seeing some texture on it.  We've got mostly plenty of solid southerly swell in the water.  That recipe is offering this stretch of sand with some fast and mostly walled lines, with the occasional good makeable bowly left.

Most Newport Beach spots are seeing shoulder-high to overhead-plus waves, with the top south facing breaks pulling waves a few feet overhead plus.  FYI...those south facing beaches are definitely going to have a super strong current pulling to the north, so plan on doing lots of paddling!!

Taking a look at the tides, at 6:28 a.m it drained out to a negative 1.0 low which will have many spots lacking water early to mid-morning.  Your best bet once that tide turns around and fills-in a bit.  It eventually climbs up to a 3.8 high at 1:12 p.m.

If you're going to get out there and charge it, you'll want to wear at least a 3/2 fullsuit, with the water temperature hanging between 58 and 60 degrees.  Be safe out there!
