Wave Check: Friday

The modest amount of action continues!

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Corona del Mar Patch surf report.  Well, the modest amount of energy is continuing for another day.  The only bummer, we're dealing with more southerly winds from the start.

That means many spots are seeing some texture, bump or even light chop on the water early on.  Now there's a chance that the wind could lay down at some point later on, but don't count on it!

Taking a look at the waves, there's mostly holding southerly swell in the water and not much northwest energy on the radar.  That recipe is providing some racy drained out semi-wally lines, with some scattered shoulders to snag.  More tide will definitely help out the shape!

Most Newport Beach spots are running about waist-to shoulder-high plus, with the top south facing breaks pulling head-high waves, with some overhead sets.  Taking a look at the tides.

At 5:24 a.m drained out to a negative 1.3 low which will have some spots lacking water and pretty inconsistent early to mid-morning.  The tide then pushes back up to a 4.0 high at 11:58 a.m and then drops once again to a 2.1 low at 4:41 p.m.

If you're planning on paddling, a thin fullsuit will do you right with the water temperature climbing up a bit and averaging between 62 and 64 degrees.  See ya in the water!!
