Wave Check: Thursday

There's some more swell, but those conditions could change quickly!

Good Thursday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Corona del Mar Patch surf report.  Well, we're seeing a new dose of energy, but due to another storm expected to arrive sometime today, that could play a big part in how those conditions hold up out there.

It's fairly clean early on, with a combination of some increasing west northwest swell and some smaller south southwesterly energy in the water.

That recipe is providing some fast sectiony lines, with some pick and choose corners.  Most Newport Beach spots are pulling waist-to chest-high waves, with the top combo breaks seeing shoulder-high waves, with some bigger sets.

At 8:11 a.m the tide drains out to a negative o.1 low which will have many spots desperate for water mid-morning.  The tide then pushes back up to a 3.1 high at 2:48 p.m.

If you're going to get wet, you'll want to wear no less than a 3/2 fullsuit and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees.  See ya in the water!

FYI, The County Health Department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to the likelihood of increased bacteria levels especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
