Wave Check: Thursday

A playful mix of swells!

Good Thursday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Corona del Mar Patch surf report.  Well, it's worth grabbing a session before you head into the office or class.  Yep, we're seeing a playful size mix of swells in the water.

The conditions have finally come together, with most spots starting off nice and clean.  Taking a look at the waves, there's some south southwest swell and northwest windswell underneath it.

That recipe is offering this neck of the woods with some racy and somwhat broken-up lines, with some nice steep corners to grab.  Most spots in Newport Beach are seeing knee-to stomach-high waves, with the standout combo breaks pulling some chest-high sets.

At 5:27 a.m the tide climbed up to a 4.0 high which could have some spots a bit full and slow early on.  The tide then drops to a 0.5 low at 11:45 a.m and then pushes up again to a 5.1 high at 6:25 p.m.

If you're planning on paddling, you'll need no more than a 3/2 fullsuit, with the water temperature averaging between 58 and 60 degrees.  See ya in the water!
