Good Thursday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Corona del Mar Patch surf report. Well, there's no shortage of surf out there today. Yep, it's not completely cranking, but there's definitely some sizeable waves to be had
Unfortunately, we're already seeing some bump or even light chop on the water due to the variable southerly winds. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it backs off at some point throughout the morning.
Taking a look at the waves, there's mostly modest south swell and just a touch of west northwest windswell in the water. That recipe is offering some fast semi-walled drained-out lines, with a few good corners. The shape should improve once the tide climbs up throughout the morning.

Most Newport Beach spots are running about waist-to shoulder-high, with the top south facing breaks pulling some head-high plus sets. At 4:51 a.m the tide dropped to a negative 1.3 low which will have many spots desperate for water early to mid-morning. The tide then climbs up to a 3.8 high at 11:20 a.m and then drops again to a 2.0 low at 4:03 p.m.
If you're planning on paddling, a 3/2 fullsuit will do the job, with the water temperature averaging between 61 and 63 degrees. See ya in the water!!
