Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Corona del Mar Patch surf report. Well, we're seeing a nice amount of action, but those conditions just don't want to cooperate. Yep, the return of the coastal eddie is messing things up a bit!
There's some texture or bump on it from the start thanks to the variable wind. Taking a look at the waves, we've got mainly slowly decreasing south southwest swell and hardly any northwest windswell in the water. That recipe is giving us some fast semi-walled crumbly lines, with a few decent shoulders.
Most spots in Newport Beach are running about waist-to chest-high, with those standout south facing breaks pulling shoulder-high waves, with some head- high sets.

At 5:50 a.m the tide drained out to a negative 1.2 low which will be a bit of a problem early on. Many spots will be pretty inconsistent throughout mid-morning due to the lack of water. Your best bet once that tide turns around and eventually climbs up to a 3.9 high at 12:15 p.m.
If you're going to get wet, well if it has been a while since you've paddled, that water temperature has warmed up a little, so you can throw on a 3/2 fullsuit, with it hanging between 59 and 61 degrees. See ya in the water!
