Wave Check: Wednesday

There's not a lot of energy out there!!

Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Corona del Mar Patch surf report.  Well, it's definitely not looking like the greatest surf day.  There's not much size and those conditions look questionable!

It's semi-clean early on, with some texture or bump on the water.  Taking a look at the waves, we've got a small dose of energy.  There's mainly west northwest windswell and not much southerly swell to speak of.

That recipe is offering this stretch of sand with some racy and kinda crumbly drained out lines, with a few decent shoulders.  Most spots in Newport Beach are pulling knee-to waist-high waves, with the standout breaks pulling a few plus sets.

At 4:51 a.m the tide drained out to a negative 1.6 low which will have many spots in need of water and fairly inconsistent early to mid-morning.  The tide then climbs up to a 4.0 high at 11:20 a.m and then drops again to a 1.8 low at 4:06 p.m.

If you must get wet, you'll want to wear a 3/2 fullsuit, with the water temperature averaging between 57 and 59 degrees.  Good luck out there!

County Health Officials encourage surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to the possibility of increased bacteria levels, especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
