Wave Check: Wednesday

It's completely chewed-up by this storm!!

Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Corona del Mar Patch surf report.  Well, this latest storm might be bring us some surf, but it's definitely not helping out with the conditions!!

We're seeing lots of chop on the water thanks to the stiff southeasterly winds which don't look to be dying anytime soon.  We're seeing a combo of some decent size west northwest ground and windswell and a tad of south southwesterly energy in the water.

That recipe is offering some totally disorganized lines, with nothing to really work with.  Most spots in Newport Beach are seeing knee-to chest-high waves, with the top combo breaks pulling some shoulder-high sets.

At 7:15 a.m the tide climbs way up to a 6.3 high which isn't helping things either.  Many spots will be pretty swamped or even a bit back-washy mid morning.  The tide then drains out to a negative 1.2 low at 2:14 p.m.

If you're completely desperate for a salt water bath, throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit or better yet a 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature hanging between 56 and 57 degrees.  Good luck out there!!

FYI, County Health Officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the water after a rain due to increased bacteria levels for at least 72 hours, especially near storm drains and river mouths.
