Wednesday: Not Looking Like a Good Surf Day

Surf Junkie Jeff provides an overview of today's surf conditions.

Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport  Beach Patch surf report.

Well, it's not looking like a good surf day.  Yep it's pretty messy out there.

We're dealing with a steady south wind which is putting quite a bit of chop on the water.  We've got a mix of mostly small- to decent-size southwest swell and some smaller west-northwest energy.

That recipe is providing us some chewed-up sectiony lines with not much to work with.  Most Newport Beach spots are running about knee- to waist-high with the standout breaks pulling stomach-high waves with a few chest-high sets.

At 4:45 early this morning the tide climbed up to a 4.9 high and then drops to a 1.3 low at 12:01 this afternoon.

If you must get wet, throw on that 4/3 full suit and maybe the booties, with the water temperature hanging between 56 and 58 degrees.  See ya in the water?
