Wednesday Surf Report

Surf Junkie Jeff talks surf conditions.

Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report.  Well, it looks like we're going to have to deal with the small and weak stuff for now.  However, if you break out the small wave gear, you can find a few rideable waves!

We're seeing mostly clean conditions early on, with a mixture of some minimal northwest swell and some south-southwest energy in the mix.

That recipe is offering some fast little lines, with a few workable ones.  Once again, a log or a fish will be your best bet.  Look for things to improve a bit as that tide turns around and fills in later in the day.

Most spots in Newport Beach are running about knee-high, with the top combo breaks pulling thigh-high waves, with a couple of waist-high sets.

Taking a look at those tides...at 7:33 this morning it drops to a 0.4 low which will have many spots needing water mid morning.  The tide then climbs up to a 3.0 high at 1:40 this afternoon.

If you're going to get wet, then you'll want to wear no less than a 3/2 fullsuit or a 4/3 and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees.  See ya in the water!
