Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report. Well, we're seeing a bit of an increase in the action. Yep, it's nothing to write home about, but there are definitely some more fun, rideable waves.
The conditions are starting off nice and clean or light offshore, with some really nice weather which is making it much more inviting out there. Taking a look at the waves...we're seeing a mixture of mainly south-southwest swell and a pretty small dose of northwest energy in the water.
That recipe is offering some fast and fairly broken-up lines, with some nice wedgy corners to snag. Most Newport Beach spots are seeing knee- to waist-high plus waves, with the top combo breaks pulling some belly-high plus sets.

At 4:52 early this morning the tide drained out to a negative 0.5 low which will have many spots lacking water early on. Once that tide fills in a bit we should see things improve a little and become a bit more consistent. The tide climbs up to a 3.5 high at 11:18 later this morning and then drops again to a 2.0 low at 3:57 this afternoon.
If you're going to grab a session, then you'll want to throw on at least that 3/2 fullsuit or maybe that 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between a chilly 54 and 56 degrees. Have fun out there!
