Why was Pat Boone wearing a kilt?

It isn’t often that I get to interview a music legend while he is wearing a kilt, but I did so on Monday at the Dove Canyon Country Club in Dove Canyon.

He was Pat Boone, the great fifties and sixties rock and roller who arrived in a kilt to take part in the 9th Annual Pat Boone and Friends Golf Classic in said of Ryan’s Reach (www.ryansreach.com), named after his grandson, Ryan Corbin, who is making a miraculous recovery from a terrible accident.

It was fascinating interview in which Boone reminisced about those early days of rock and his friendship with Elvis Presley and how Presley, during their first meeting, seemed shocked that someone as famous as Pat Boone would talk to him.

“Elvis was, at that time the opening act for one of my shows,” said Boone, “and later, as he became the great superstar, we became good friends and when we were making movies in Hollywood, our dressing rooms where close to each other.”

But this is where you come in. Why do think Pat Boone was wearing a kilt? He told me, but I’d love to get your ideas!
