Woman Killed In Newport Beach Collision
A Ford Fusion involved in a single vehicle collision left the female driver dead in Newport Beach, Tuesday.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A fatal single-vehicle collision claimed the life of a woman in Newport Beach Tuesday night according to the Newport Beach Police Department.
Just after 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, the Newport Beach Police Department was notified of a single-vehicle traffic collision near the intersection of San Miguel Drive and Pacific View Drive.
"Officers arriving on scene found a grey Ford Fusion with a single occupant, a female driver," Newport Beach Police Officer Jennifer Manzella said. "Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was travelling westbound on Pacific View Drive when it left the roadway and collided with a light standard."

According to the Orange County Coroner's office, the woman perished on a dirt embankment, next to a bank parking lot in Newport Beach. Excessive speed appears to be a contributing factor in the collision, according to the investigation.
"Newport Beach Fire Department staff responded to the collision, but the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene," she said.

The identity of the driver is not available at this time, pending identification and notification of her next of kin by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
