Join actress DeLanna Studi (Cherokee), her father Thomas Studi (Cherokee), and documentarian Jesse Abdenour as they discuss the legacy and present-day impact of the Trail of Tears, a series of forced relocations of Native Americans following the Indian Removal Act of 1830. Earlier this year, Abdenour and the Studis embarked on a six-week journey to retrace the northern route of the Trail of Tears, hosting workshops and storytelling circles along the way, while also gathering stories to inpire a future work.

Produced by the Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts in partnership with the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians. Project partners include the American Indian Center and Center for the Study of the American South at UNC, Chapel Hill; Autry National Center of the American West; Museum of the Cherokee Indian; National Trail of Tears Association; and Unto These Hills.
