2 Killed In Fiery North Hollywood Crash

Investigators believe speed in excess of 100 mph may have been a factor in a solo-crash that demolished a vehicle on Vineland Avenue.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — Two men died in a fiery crash in North Hollywood early Monday morning.

The driver lost control of his vehicle while heading northbound on Vineland Avenue, veering across the southbound lanes near Burbank Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The vehicle slammed into a palm tree, demolishing it. The impact caused the vehicle to erupt in flames. When paramedics arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department's Brian Humphrey. After putting out the flames, firefighters discovered the bodied of two men, who appeared to be in their 20s, he said.

The crash occurred at about 1:30 a.m. The Los Angeles Daily News reported that high-speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour may have been a factor in the crash, and there were no skid marks in the road to indicate that the driver tried to stop. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
