6 Hurt, Including Good Samaritan, in 101 Freeway Pileup

A SigAlert was declared overnight in a series of crashes on the Hollywood (101) Freeway.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA - A half-dozen people were hurt today, including a good Samaritan, when three cars collided on the Hollywood (101) Freeway near Universal City, authorities said.

The accident was reported at 1:36 a.m. on the northbound Hollywood Freeway just north of Barham Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. All three vehicles sustained major damage and debris was scattered across lanes, the CHP said.

A good Samaritan was struck by a vehicle while he tried to help one of the crash victims but was reported up and walking. Four out of the six people complaining of injuries were taken to a hospital, a news videographer reported from the scene said .

A SigAlert was issued at 2:23 a.m., when all but the fast lane were shut down so debris could be removed. All lanes were reopened at 3:10 a.m., according to the CHP.
