Every other month, two Gene Autry films are screened in the Imagination Gallery’s Western Legacy Theater.
June’s Gene Autry Double Feature theme is “Leading Lady Fay McKenzie.” Gene Autry's leading ladies are all beautiful gals who are smart, sassy, and full of spunk. Fay McKenzie co-starred in five Republic Pictures films with Gene in 1941 and 1942. June's films Sierra Sue and Cowboy Serenade highlight Fay's best work with Gene with plenty of music, comedy and action.
Sierra Sue (1941)
Republic Pictures (64 minutes)
Synopsis:
When poisonous devil weed threatens cattle, State Inspectors Gene Autry and Frog Millhouse try to help an old-fashioned ranching community opposed to the new modern methods. There’s action on the ground and in the air with Gene racing stampeding cattle and Frog as “The Human Cannonball.”
Gene Autry sings several songs including “Sierra Sue” with Fay McKenzie.
