Blood Drive Taking Place at Colfax Charter on Tuesday

There will be a blood drive at on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The following message is from Suzanne Lewis of the Neighborhood Council Valley Village:

Nearly 200,000 patients, ranging from newborns to 18-years-olds, are treated annually at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The children require 2,000 units of blood components each month for the various lifesaving treatments they undergo. This translates to 1,000 donors per month. There is no substitute for blood; human blood is the only source. Without blood donations many of these children wait their transfusion. Anyone at least 17 years of age and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Please drink plenty of fluids and eat prior to donating blood.
