Bob and Dolores Hope Immortalized at Lankershim & Moorpark

Councilman Tom LaBonge, the Hopes' daughter Linda and Burbank Mayor Jess Talamantes are among those who attend the ceremony.

The intersection of Lankershim Boulevard and Moorpark Street in Toluca Lake was designated as Bob and Dolores Hope Square today in honor of the late comedian and his wife, who were longtime residents of the community.

Councilman Tom LaBonge, the Hopes' daughter Linda and Burbank Mayor Jess Talamantes were among those who attended the ceremony in front of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, where the Hopes were married.

"Bob and Dolores Hope were great entertainers and great people," LaBonge said. "They're together in heaven right now, but they're immortalized right here at Lankershim and Moorpark in our our slice of heaven, Toluca Lake."

The ceremony came one day after the Academy Awards, which Hope hosted a record 18 times.

The world-famous intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street was designated as Bob Hope Square on his 100th birthday on May 29, 2003. He died on July 27, 2003.

Dolores Hope, a singer who performed alongside her husband during his many overseas trips to entertain U.S. troops, died Sept. 19 at age 102.
