GRIFFITH PARK, CA — Los Angeles firefighters battled a roughly 1.5-acre brushfire near the heliport in Griffith Park Monday afternoon. Air and ground crews are battled the blaze in heavy brush on the North-West side of the Toyon Helispot.

It took crews about an hour and 23 minutes to completely surround the fire. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported, said Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"Air and ground resources utilized a coordinated attack to quickly surround the flames and stop further extension within the medium and heavy brush," she added.
