Brushfire Breaks Out Near 405 Freeway

SYLMAR, CA — A small brushfire broke out in Sylmar Friday near the the Jensen Water Treatment Plant at the Golden State (5) and the San Diego (405) freeway interchange.

The fire broke out just before 2:30 p.m. and quickly charred an acre, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. A second spot fire near the 5 Freeway at Roxford may create traffic headaches, the fire department warned.

No structures are threatened, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Amy Bastman.
