Award-winning Bob Gossom film closes National Poetry Month and opens Mental Health Awareness Month
Poet and playwright Bob Gossom brings back his acclaimed film Versified! The Human Equation for a limited encore streaming, blending contemporary poetry, motion, music, and storytelling to close National Poetry Month.
The film streams from 3 p.m. PT April 30 to 9 p.m. PT May 3 at bobgossom.com/film-viewing.
Adapted from Gossom’s acclaimed poetry collection The Human Equation, now in its expanded third edition, the production explores vulnerability, humor, contradiction and the shared experiences that connect people across generations and backgrounds.
First staged in Los Angeles, Versified! The Human Equation evolved from a live ensemble production, praised by reviewer Javier Ronceros for its performers who embody “dozens of characters in a dance of the human condition.”
This encore not only marks the shift from National Poetry Month to Mental Health Awareness Month, but also highlights poetry’s ongoing power for reflection and emotional wellness.
“Poetry has always been a place where people can process what they’re going through, often before they have language for it,” Gossom said. “It creates space to reflect and begin to heal.”
Writer, actor and director Levy Lee Simon praised Gossom’s distinctive voice and range.

The production has received multiple honors, including Best Adaptation from the SoCal Film Awards in 2025, Best Original Idea from the Top Indie Film Awards in 2026, and Best Ensemble Cast from the Bare Bones International Film Festival in 2026. It also earned nominations for Best Writing and Best Editing.

Brews Brothers

To celebrate our four year anniversary, Super Trashed LA is doing a doubles tournament!
One part nerd, one part slurred, Super Trashed brings together comedy, Super Smash Bros Ultimate and alcohol at a super rad craft beer bar in North Hollywood. Join your hosts (and jokey commentators), Dan, Jesse B. and OJ, as every contestant virtually battles amongst themselves while physically battling distractions. Audience participation is essential as a live crowd chant, joke, and suggest new rules and new gags.
This show is a casual “e-sports gone mild” tournament. Our competitors tend to skew towards beginners and moderate players but there’s no skill required to play. We aim to be a fun night for everyone, to keep the party in party game.
Drinking rules apply! If you lose a stock, you'll take a sip of your beverage. If you lose a stock on accident, take two sips. The winner will get $25 of their tab covered.
Tournament Format (May 6, Doubles Edition): A series of team battles to determine a winners and losers brackets. Subsequent team battle rounds scheduled based on amount of players. Two losses for team to be eliminated. Those who make it to the final redemption round will get a special “last chance” battle. Final round will consist of a 2v2v2 battle with different win conditions based on in-tournament seeding. Items on (low), including everything except maxim tomato, heart container, fairy bottle, super star, hammer/golden hammer, gust bellows, special flag, boss galaga and lightning.
Also, if you're not good at video games, you can still win an Amiibo (the Good Sports Amiibo) for people who cheer the loudest, jeer the funniest, support others, and have the best time. 7:00pm signup, 7:30 start. We’ll provide controllers but feel free to bring your own.
