Murder Suspect Chase Ends With Carjacking, Head-On Crash In Noho

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — A wild police chase of a possible murder suspect ended with a head-0n collision and multiple suspects fleeing on foot in the North Hollywood area Monday night.

Police chased a possible murder suspect at high speeds through the streets of North Hollywood, and the chase ended when the driver allegedly fled on foot, carjacked an SUV and collided head-on with a patrol car.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the chase began and ended in North Hollywood with two other people in the car with the suspect. The car raced along surface streets and the the Golden State (5) Freeway, veering dangerously close to other vehicles and pedestrians and plowing into trash cans.

Two people bailed out of the car in the course of the chase and one was taken into custody, ABC7 reported.

Helicopter news crews followed the driver as he fled on foot and appeared to carjack the SUV. That driver was able to flee to safety before the vehicle collided with a Police SUV at Sherman Way and Whitsett Avenue shortly after 8 p.m.

"Obviously, very dangerous situation," LAPD Capt. Craig Valenzuela told reporters at the scene. "It appears as though no one was seriously injured. So, for that, I think we're very lucky and very thankful."
