Hello, Has anyone been cited by the city over a carport in their driveway? We have been given a "courtesy" notice that we are about to be cited for "urban blight" even though our attached carport awning is in perfect shape and is almost completely behind mature trees. It seems that the tax dollars being spent on these kinds of citations take away from the hours that could be spent on other community hazards. The officer said that there was not a neighbor complaint against my carport, but that it was my neighborhood's turn to have the officers walk the streets and find violations. We are supposedly not the only ones on the block (there are at least three other carports) being cited. I am interested to know if anyone has any experience with this type of citation and if there is anyone on the city council, etc. that might be a source of information.
