Cold Stone Creamery operates more than 1,500 locations in 17 countries, according to its website, and is one of the most successful ice cream retail franchises in the world. But despite its popularity around the world, it couldn't catch on in the NoHo Arts District.

The question now is what will take its place. The blog NoHoFoSho.net suggests frozen yogurt might be more suitable for the health-conscious, hip neighborhood that is full of dancers and actors all watching their figure.
