Colfax Camp Celebrates Early Independence Day
Campers decorate bikes and scooters for the upcoming Valley Village 4th of July parade
The first week of summer camp at Colfax Charter Elementary School in Valley Village celebrated Independence Day early. Campers were invited to bring their bikes and scooters and the children decorated them in red, white and blue streamers, ribbons and flags. They were preparing their vehicles to ride in the Valley Village 4th of July parade that takes place at 10:00 am in front of Colfax Charter Elementary. The campers got a trial run on Friday, July 1 as they encircled the Colfax campus, along with decorated members of the military.
The children also decorated a flatbed truck which will be used as a float in the parade. Every year the children choose a different theme for their float, and this year the wanted to promote saving our oceans. Those who don’t want to ride their bikes or scooters will wave from the float.
A stiltwalker and contortionist from Dreamworks Circus also entertained the children and their parents.
