Community Cleanup Crew Finds Its Work Done
The Midtown NoHo Neighborhood Council planned to clean Vineland Avenue until SoCal Edison decided to do the work for them.
The Midtwown NoHo Neighborhood Council Beautification Committee and Los Angeles City Councilman Tom LaBonge's office had planned a community cleanup day on Saturday along Vineland Avenue in the NoHo Arts District, but it was cancelled.
The reason? Southern California Edison had already done their work for them.
The following email was sent out to volunteers from LaBonge's Deputy District Director for North Hollywood / Toluca Lake, Alice Roth:

The February 25 Saturday cleanup has been cancelled. We were "touched by angels" (from So. California Edison) who are currently working on a cleanup from Magnolia to Camarillo. If you get a chance, please stop by, take a look and let us how you feel.
The attached photos are "before" photos, so make sure to check out Vineland and tell LaBonge's office and the Midtown NoHo Beautification Committee what you think.

Bob Peppermuller of the Midtown NoHo Neighborhood Council in an email explained how the cleanup came about.
"Mid Town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council's (MTNHNC) Yvonne Demery's Beautification Committee's first effort of 2012 was to tackle the vegetation overgrowth and trash along the Vineland walkway between Magnolia Blvd and Camarillo Street. We worked with Alice Roth of the Riverside Drive office of CD4 Tom LeBonge. Working with Alice on Friday February 17th we contacted Southern California Edison (SCE) under whose power lines is the walkway. (SCE) then directed a work crew to commence cleanup beginning on Wednesday, February 22. The magnitude of the effort can be visualized in that it took the SCE crew with power tools four working days to complete the job."
