Council Transportation Committee Slows Down Efforts to Raise Speed Limits on 5 Valley Streets

The proposal included raising the speed limit on Chandler Boulevard in the NoHo Arts District.

A  proposal by the LADOT and LAPD to raise speed limits on five segments of streets in the San Fernando Valley was rejected by the Los Angeles City Council's Transportation Committee, according to lastreetsblog.org.

The proposal included raising the speed limit on Chandler Boulevard between Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Vineland Avenue through Valley Village and the NoHo Arts District, which was opposed by the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, Los Angeles Walks, The Safe Routes to Schools National Partnership, a handful of Neighborhood Councils and the Los Angeles Bicycle Advisory Committee, according to the report.

The proposed limit increases may come back to the Committee in 90 days after  outreach is completed with the Los Angeles Unified School District, according to the report.
