Day 11: Countdown to the Colfax World Fair – Hot Dinner with the Firefighters!
Colfax Charter Elementary School in Valley Village hosts this "old world fair" on June 4. Here are some featured attractions.
There are only 11 days left until the day of the biggest annual event in Valley Village – the Colfax World Fair. The Valley Village Report continues to highlight some of the activities that will take place.
Silent Auction Item: Dinner with the Firefighters at Station 60
Dinner hosted by a station full of handsome firemen is a fantasy-come-true for any youngster (and his mom). Our local firefighters at Tujunga and Chandler will treat a family of four (or the lucky winner and three of her closest girlfriends) to one of their homemade dinners. A slide down the fire pole may be negotiable.

Food Vendor:
You usually have to win a round of “Parking Lot Vulture” at the Sherman Oaks Westfield Fashion Square just to get a taste of one of these French flapjacks, but on June 4 they’re coming to the Colfax World Fair. Do you want cheese with that?

Game: Bean Bag Toss
Yes … they’re using UNCOOKED BEANS! However, there may be some extras soaking in a pot at the Morella Water Park.
Entertainment: Balloons
It’s not a trip in a hot air balloon, but it’s the next best thing - lots and LOTS and LOTS of balloons, sponsored by Colfax PTA President Maribel Garcia and her neighborhood party store Party Decorations ‘R’ Us (at Moorpark and Laurel Canyon). Sorry, Mickey Mouse fans. The helium’s not for sale.
Attraction: Big Blue Wave
At nine feet tall and 23 feet long, it’s almost as big as a Big Blue Whale, or rather a Big Blue Toddler Whale. This is one of the featured attractions of Colfax’s famous Morella Water Park, so be sure to bring your swimsuit and towel.
Colfax Charter Elementary School is highlighting these daily features on its Facebook and Twitter pages, which are linked to the school Web site. Anyone who replies, retweets, or leaves a comment on Patch will be entered into a daily drawing to win a Colfax World Fair t-shirt and ten tickets to the fair. Winners will be announced each following day.
The winner for Day 12 is Denise Rowe who commented on both Facebook and Patch. Nice way to double your odds, Denise!
The Colfax World Fair takes place Saturday, June 4 from noon till 7 p.m. at Colfax Charter Elementary School – 11724 Addison St., Valley Village. This is Colfax’s most profitable annual fundraiser, and all proceeds pay for student enrichment as well as traditional programs that have been slashed by LAUSD budget cuts.
