Day 13: Countdown to the Colfax World Fair—Bid on an Outdoor Movie Party

Colfax Charter Elementary School in Valley Village hosts its 'old world fair' on June 4. Here are some featured attractions.

Valley Village’s biggest annual event, the Colfax World Fair, is less than two weeks away. The 20-day countdown continues as the Valley Village Report features the attraction, game, silent auction item, food vendor and entertainment for Day 13.

Silent Auction item: FunFlicks Outdoor Movie Party

Don’t go to the movies … let the movies come to you! This jumbo outdoor movie, screen digital projector, and VHS/DVD player is professionally delivered and set up in the privacy of your own backyard. It even includes popcorn for 50. With the price of movie theatres these days, you might have enough money left over for a box of Raisinettes.

Food Vendor: Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

There’s nothing like an ice-blended coffee to cool you off and give you a little pick-me-up to chase the kids on yet another ride.

Game: Tic Tac Toe

Should I be “X” or should I be “O?” Decisions … decisions….

Entertainment: Raffle

Throughout the day, winners will be announced for the Colfax World Fair raffle. Sponsored by discounts4me, prizes include an iPad, Kindle, Disneyland tickets, Dodger tickets, and cash prizes of $500 and $1,000. If you win the grand prize, you may consider celebrating at the Silent Auction tent and bidding on the FunFlicks Outdoor Movie Party. Isn’t it great to pay it forward?

Attraction: Speed Racer Junior Challenge

Maneuver around pop ups and logs, crawl through tunnels, run across racing tires, climb up and slide down the 6-foot slope, then do it again. Parents will have just enough time to fetch another coffee drink.

Colfax Charter Elementary School is highlighting daily features on its Facebook and Twitter pages, which are linked to the school Web site. Anyone who replies, retweets, or leaves a comment on Patch will be entered into a daily drawing to win a Colfax World Fair t-shirt and ten tickets to the fair. Winners will be announced each following day.

The winner for Day 14 is Nickie Bryar Block. Congratulations Nickie!

The Colfax World Fair takes place Saturday, June 4 from noon till 7 p.m. at Colfax Charter Elementary School – 11724 Addison St., Valley Village. This is Colfax’s most profitable annual fundraiser, and all proceeds pay for student enrichment as well as traditional programs that have been slashed by LAUSD budget cuts.
