Day 15: Countdown to the Colfax World Fair – A Little Something to Get the Popcorn Out of Your Teeth
The biggest annual event in Valley Village takes place Saturday, June 2.
The biggest annual event in Valley Village – the Colfax World Fair – returns Saturday, June 2, 2012 from noon – 7 p.m. Last year’s fair attracted over 7,000 guests and raised $140,000 in a single day, which paid for extracurricular activities and academic programs slashed from LAUSD budget cuts.
For the next 15 days, we will be highlighting a particular attraction, game, food vendor, silent auction item and entertainment that will take place at the Colfax World Fair. Anyone who shares the Patch article on Facebook or retweets it on Twitter will be entered in a daily raffle to win a Colfax T-shirt and 5 free tickets to the fair. Winners will be randomly drawn and announced the following day.

Baseball or soccer season may be ending, but the kids can still get their fix in this inflatable which features these games as well as football, basketball and darts or Frisbee.
Game: Fish Booth

There’s nothing like finishing off a great day at the fair with a baggie with a goldfish in it. Just make sure you don’t leave Little Nemo at the Junior World Sports attraction or someone might mistake it for one of the balls.
Food Vendor: Popcorn
Once again, Neighborhood Council Valley Village board members will be popping kernels and schmoozing with their constituents while they hand out free swag. The next NCVV election is coming up in September and they’ll be happy to answer questions from anyone interested in taking on a seat.
Entertainment: 3rd Grade Hula
Colfax 3rd grade’s own Ms. Kip has been preparing these kids for a hula dance to the song He Mele No Lilo. Be sure to join in and try to shake some of that popcorn off your hips.
Silent Auction Item: Basket of Children’s Toothbrushes
Donated by the very popular Sherman Oaks pediatric dentist Dr. Michelle To, this basket includes 15 regular toothbrushes, 3 electric brushes, 6 tubes of toothpaste and dental floss. Since summer is coming along with marathon kids’ sleepovers (and disappearing toothbrushes), this is sure to last you through many Tooth Fairy visits.
Colfax Charter Elementary School is located at 11724 Addison St., Valley Village, 91607. Admission is free to the Colfax World Fair.
