Day 3: Countdown to the Colfax World Fair—Win an Electric Guitar Signed by Carlos Santana
Colfax Charter Elementary School in Valley Village hosts this 'old world fair' on Saturday. Here are some featured attractions.
Only three days left in our 20-Day Countdown to the Colfax World Fair. Here are today's featured attractions.
Attraction: Big Kahuna
This wavy, 12-foot slide first drops your stomach, and then the rest of your body into a 4-by-5-foot pool. You’ll find this attraction at our famous Morella Water Park, an entire block of super-soaking fun.

Food Vendor: Slushies
Beverage Brothers is sponsoring two barrel "margarita" machines—where lemonade and blue raspberry slushies will be mixed. Don’t drink them too fast, or you’ll have to run to First Aid for an aspirin.

Booth: Feather Hair Extensions
Jennifer Ellenberg, owner of the slick Suburbia Salon in Studio City, will be working not one, but two booths, applying the hottest new trend: feather hair extensions. Probably not a great choice for those who shave their heads.
Entertainment: Pro Parents Band
We have some amazingly talented musician parents at Colfax, and they’re getting together again this year to play some classic '50s, '60s and '70s rock. The band features Dan Boul, Mark Goldenberg and Kirk Hellie on guitar, Dusty Wakeman on bass, Edward Shemansky on drums and country music singer Deana Carter on vocals. The band will be the final live entertainment act at the Colfax World Fair, playing from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
Silent Auction Item: Paul Reed Smith Electric Guitar, Signed by Carlos Santana. The eternally mega-popular Carlos Santana has signed this Paul Reed Smith special 25th anniversary, custom 24 SE electric guitar.
The Colfax World Fair Countdown Day 5 winner is LA Local News which linked the Patch story to Fwix: fwix.com/a/3_db240c92fd via Twitter. This is social media working at its best!
Colfax Charter Elementary School is highlighting these daily features on its Facebook and Twitter pages, which are linked to the school website. Anyone who replies, retweets, or leaves a comment on Patch will be entered into a daily drawing to win a Colfax World Fair T-shirt and 10 tickets to the fair. Winners will be announced each following day.
The Colfax World Fair takes place Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. at Colfax Charter Elementary School, 11724 Addison St., Valley Village. This is Colfax’s most profitable annual fundraiser, and all proceeds pay for student enrichment and traditional programs that have been slashed by LAUSD budget cuts.
