Day 4: Countdown to the Colfax World Fair – Alumni Band Will Rock the House

The biggest annual event in Valley Village takes place Saturday, June 2nd.

This is the start of the last week of school before the Colfax World Fair comes to Colfax Charter Elementary School in Valley Village. The parents have taken the three-day holiday weekend to rest up, because from here on they will be getting very little sleep preparing for the big day. We continue with Day 4 of our 15-day countdown by highlighting some of the incredible things you will find at the fair:

Attraction: Goliath

The Colfax World Fair will be setting up over a dozen giant inflatables and this is one of the best. This gigantic double water slide is approximately 20 feet high with a 4 x 10 foot pool at the end. It’s the next best thing to a ride at Magic Mountain – without the long lines.

Special Area: General Merchandise Booth

The secret has gotten out about our fantastic little school, so why not advertise it with some terrific Colfax merchandise? The General Merchandise Booth will be selling anything with a Colfax logo, including shirts, towels, aprons, Kleen Kanteens, and magnets.

Food Vendor: Argentinian BBQ

Enjoy a delicious barbequed sausage drizzled with special homemade Argentinian chimichurri sauce. Tasty enough to lure vegetarians to the dark side.

Entertainment: Colfax Alumni Bands

Benjamin "Benjo" Markus plays a mean guitar, and he was already legendary when he graduated from Colfax two years ago. His band The Offtracks is made up Walter Reed Middle School students, and they will be playing the hit songs Back in the USSR, Beverly Hills, Whole Lotta Love, Just Like Heaven, and Wake Me Up When September Ends. Cooper Ladomade who graduated from Colfax last year, plays drums for What If?, a band that was formed through Burbank Music Academy. They will be playing Everlong, Sweet Emotion, Gunslinger and one original song. Catch these kids now and you’ll be able to say “I remember them when…”

Silent Auction Item: CSI Basket

No offense to New York or Miami, but the original Las Vegas CSI is undoubtedly the best! This huge collection includes season 1-11 DVD sets, an autographed script, a kid’s "Evidence Collection Kit,” two 2 CSI novels, a "Club CSI" kid’s book, a CSI PC video game, CSI t-shirt, and CSI magazines. When you’re done combing through all this evidence, you’ll be ready to solve your own crime.

The Colfax Word Fair takes place Saturday, June 2nd from noon – 7 p.m. at Colfax Charter Elementary School, 11724 Addison St., Valley Village, 91607. Admission is free and all money raised pays for student programs at Colfax. Silent auction items can be viewed by logging clicking here.
