Day 4: Countdown to the Colfax World Fair – Win 2 Tickets to the Emmys
Colfax Charter Elementary School in Valley Village hosts this "old world fair" on June 4. Here are some featured attractions.
We’re on the home stretch of our 20-Day Countdown to the Colfax World Fair, where we highlight some of the exciting attractions you’ll find at the fair. Here are the specialties for Day 4:
Food Vendor: The Famous East Bay Crispy Chicken Sandwich
Every 4th of July, the residents of Camellia Street in Valley Village throw a fabulous block party. Rumor has it that that resident Barry Berkowitz served up a chicken sandwich that had his neighbors drooling till Labor Day. Barry will be sharing these legendary creations with the rest of Valley Village at the Colfax World Fair Food Court. Be sure to bring your appetite.

Entertainment: Colfax Variety Show
Colfax’s most musical students and alumni have formed their own rock bands and will be performing I Want to Hold Your Hand, Fireworks, We Will Rock You, With A Little Help From My Friends, and Rock This Town. Rockin’ for the Arts’ The Florescent Beanies are singing Blondie’s One Way or Another, but if you know the words you can jump right in. It helps if you practiced first at the Beatles Rock Band Booth.
Attraction: Castle Velcro Wall
Step into your Velcro suit and take a flying leap as you storm the castle, landing 13 feet off the ground. Not a good choice for those with Vertigo, although the plus side is that you definitely won’t be falling.
Silent Auction Item: 2 tickets to the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards.
Experience the celebration of the best of the best in television, and see what those celebrities really say after the commercial cuts them off.
The Colfax World Fair Countdown Day 6 winner is Inez Tiger who liked the lattes vendor on the Colfax Charter Facebook page. Inez is married to Supreme Bean coffee-meister Mark Lizer, so we’re all happy that she also likes him.
Colfax Charter Elementary School is highlighting these daily features on its Facebook and Twitter pages, which are linked to the school Web site. Anyone who replies, retweets, or leaves a comment on Patch will be entered into a daily drawing to win a Colfax World Fair t-shirt and ten tickets to the fair. Winners will be announced each following day.
The Colfax World Fair takes place Saturday, June 4 from noon till 7 p.m. at Colfax Charter Elementary School – 11724 Addison St., Valley Village. This is Colfax’s most profitable annual fundraiser, and all proceeds pay for student enrichment as well as traditional programs that have been slashed by LAUSD budget cuts.
