Day 5: Countdown to the Colfax World Fair – All American for Memorial Day

Colfax Charter Elementary School in Valley Village hosts this "old world fair" on June 4. Here are some featured attractions.

There are five days to go in our 20-Day Countdown to the Colfax World Fair, and since it’s Memorial Day, we’re presenting featured items with an American patriotic flair.

Food Vendor: Hamburgers and Hot Dogs

The Vasquez Family will be cooking up this distinctly American meal the old fashioned way – without a microwave.

Entertainment: 5th grade – Fifty Nifty United States

This sounded like a better title than Fifty Shifty United States.

Attraction: Adrenaline Extreme

The next best thing to winning the USA Olympic Gold. Pop ups, rock climbing, squeeze wall obstacles, dual lane mazes and extra-long slides – all packed into 1,850 square feet of adrenaline-packed fun. You might need another hot dog or hamburger after this workout.

Silent Auction Item: America's Got Talent

Four tickets to the live taping of the quarterfinal round of NBC's hit show. If you don’t win, at least you were able to catch the talented Colfax students on the Colfax World Fair stage.

The Colfax World Fair Countdown Day Seven winner is Leslie Clay who commented on Facebook. For anyone who’s met Leslie, you know how much she likes to win. Congratulations Leslie!

Colfax Charter Elementary School is highlighting these daily features on its Facebook and Twitter pages, which are linked to the school Web site. Anyone who replies, retweets, or leaves a comment on Patch will be entered into a daily drawing to win a Colfax World Fair t-shirt and ten tickets to the fair. Winners will be announced each following day.

The Colfax World Fair takes place Saturday, June 4 from noon till 7 p.m. at Colfax Charter Elementary School – 11724 Addison St., Valley Village. This is Colfax’s most profitable annual fundraiser, and all proceeds pay for student enrichment as well as traditional programs that have been slashed by LAUSD budget cuts.
