Day 5: Countdown to the Colfax World Fair – A Patriotic Memorial Day

There are only five days left until the Colfax World Fair lands in Valley Village. We are officially two-thirds of the way through our 15-day countdown, and since it’s Memorial Day, we’ve decided to promote some of the more patriotic items that you will find this Saturday at Colfax Charter Elementary School.

Attraction: Big Kahuna Water Slide

Celebrate our 50th state on Memorial Day with this 12-foot high water slide, which will be located at Colfax’s Morella Water Park. Don’t forget your towel!

Food Vendor: Hamburgers & Hot Dogs

Ok, so hot dogs might have gotten their start in Germany, but hot dogs and hamburgers are as American as apple pie. And if you want the apple pie too, make another pit stop at the Dessert Booth.

Game Booth: Hula Hoops

This 1950’s American craze is the original “core” shaper.

Entertainment: 5th Graders Sing “Fifty Nifty United States”

Are you smarter than a 5th grader? If you can’t name all 50 states, then probably not.

Silent Auction Item: CBS 4th of July Festival Rooftop Viewing & Wristbands

Four general admission tickets to the 2011 CBS Studio Center 4th of July Festival with rooftop viewing & four wristbands. This is the best place in the Valley to celebrate Independence Day and watch spectacular fireworks. Be sure to celebrate the 4th of July at morning at 10 a.m. in the front of Colfax Charter Elementary School for their annual 4th of July Parade.

The Colfax Word Fair takes place Saturday, June 2 from noon – 7 p.m. at Colfax Charter Elementary School, 11724 Addison St., Valley Village, 91607. Admission is free and all money raised pays for student programs at Colfax. Silent auction items can be viewed by logging clicking here.
