Day 6: Countdown to the Colfax World Fair – Here’s Looking at You, Kids!

The biggest annual event in Valley Village takes place Saturday, June 2.

There’s less than a week to go until the Colfax World Fair comes to Valley Village. As we continue our daily countdown highlighting some of the fantastic things you’ll find at the fair, today we celebrate what this event truly is – inviting children to have a day of fun and in the process helping to support the education of those same children and every other child at Colfax Charter Elementary School. Here are today’s featured items:

Attraction: Animal Kingdom (Toddler Unit)

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Cruising and crawling toddlers get to maneuver over logs and around pop ups of friendly monkeys, elephants and giraffes. There’s also an area for jumping, a ball pit and a 3 1/2 foot slide. And it’s way cheaper than a trip to the Wild Animal Park.

Special Area: My Gym

NoHo/Toluca Lake My Gym will be at the Colfax World Fair all day long in the Toddler Tent, guiding 0-5 year olds in songs, games and dances. It’s the perfect place to keep your child entertained while you and your feet take a little break.

Food Vendor: Sweet Station

You’ll see the standard carnival lollypops, but the Sweet Station will also be selling healthy snacks like apple slices, grapes, and carrots. Drink carts with water, sodas, juice boxes will be scattered throughout the fair, and we'll have a cappuccino machine, so there will be plenty of opportunities to amp up on both sugar and caffeine.

Entertainment: Kinder Songs

You can tell from the title of the songs “Listen to the Gardens” and “Each of us is a Flower” that these tunes will be sung by the Colfax kindergartners. Either that or it’s a time warp trip to 1968 Haight-Ashbury.

Silent Auction Item: 2 Disneyland Park Hopper Tickets

It used to be that kids were more than satisfied by a trip to Disneyland, but these days, one giant theme park just isn’t enough. Hit the Magic Kingdom, have some dinner, then spend another six hours at California Adventure. Sorry… the pass does not include the midnight ride home from Anaheim.

The Colfax Word Fair takes place Saturday, June 2nd from noon – 7 p.m. at Colfax Charter Elementary School, 11724 Addison St., Valley Village, 91607. Admission is free and all money raised pays for student programs at Colfax. Silent auction items can be viewed by logging clicking here.
