Driver Plunges 300 Feet Down Griffith Park Canyon
A 68-year-old woman was airlifted to safety Wednesday after her vehicle veered off the road and down an embankment near Griffith Observatory

LOS ANGELES, CA — A woman was being airlifted to safety out of Griffith Park Wednesday after her car tumbled 300 feet down an embankment.
The Los Angeles Fire Department received a 9-1-1 call for help shortly before 7 a.m. after a 68-year-old woman plunged her car to the bottom of a canyon near the 2800 block of West Observatory Drive.
"Park Rangers made their way to the vehicle and report one 68-year-old female patient, alert and talking (extent of injuries unknown at this time)," the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

By 7:30 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department Air Operations team had been called in to airlift the woman out of the canyon to be treated.
The circumstances of the crash were under investigation, according to an LAFD spokesperson.
