Procurement professionals know only too well that when something "goes wrong" with an important order; that inevitably means delivery will be delayed. And it frequently has something to do with logistics. Most people in that situation will no doubt think simplistically about the tranport component, and that's understandable. But logistics is much more than just transport. Today's business enterprise relies to an incredible degree on the smooth functioning of a highly sophisticated and yet almost invisible set of actions that take place throughout the supply chain. These ultimately result in the level of efficiency and service that most people usually take for granted. Come and find out just a little more about the behind-the-scenes activities in today's complex and exciting field of logistics.
Prior to embarking on his full-time academic career, Brian gained 30 years of experience in the automotive, heavy-duty truck, construction equipment and banking industries in South Africa. During that time, he gained significant experience in international business, having been appointed General Manager of South African operation of a Fortune 100 U.S. Corporation. He joined the Faculty of the Department of Marketing in the College of Business and Economics at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), in January 1990, and was promoted to the rank of Full Professor in the Fall of 1998.
